Film Festival
DANIELSON --- The Faces of Our Fathers Film Festival is coming to Quinebaug Valley Community College (QVCC) at 9:30 a.m. It’s sponsored by The STRIDE Program and QVCC. The Faces of Our Fathers Film Festival will feature short, father-focused films and a conversation with filmmakers Ulysses “Butch” Slaughter and Carla P. Morales and Scott Swartz, of The Fatherhood Initiative, Madonna Place. The event is free and open to the public. Due to limited seating, an RSVP is required.  
 
‘We the People’
WOODSTOCK --- The Community Cultural Committee (The Three C’s) will present TheatreworksUSA production of “We The People” at 10 a.m. and noon for students and senior at the Hyde Cultural Center. Fund-raiser Exhibit
POMFRET --- Celebrations Shoppes will present an art exhibit and fund-raiser to support the building of the new Regional Community YMCA through Oct. 25. Twenty percent of art sales from this special exhibition will be donated to the new RYMCA. 
 
Baked Goods Fund-raiser
WOODSTOCK --- The Woodstock Academy field hockey team will be selling baked goods at lunches in the Commons through Oct. 10 to raise money for the National Foundation for Cancer Research's (NFCR) PLAY4theCURE campaign. In addition the team will be playing their "Stick it to Cancer " game Oct. 10 as part of Woodstock Academy’s 12th Annual Homecoming Celebration. At their game on Oct. 24 they will take part in the "Burpees for Boobies" campaign and they will also take part in a Goal for Goals initiative: for each goal the Lady Centaurs score, each member of the team will raise $2. For each goal that is scored against the Lady Centaurs, they will be required to raise $5.

Art Fest
N. SCITUATE --- The 48th annual Scituate Art Festival will be held From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 11 and 12 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 13 on the village green, Rt. 116.  www.scituateartfestival.org

5k Race
WOODSTOCK --- The new Woodstock Academy Athletic Alumni Hall of Fame 5K will take off from the academy at 10 a.m. Registration for the race begins at 8 a.m. The preregistration fee is $25 for adults; $10 for children and students. The event benefits the student-run non-profit, Family Related Effective Solutions for Humanity (FRESH), which works toward poverty relief and awareness in the ‘Quiet Corner’ and the Athletic Alumni Hall of Fame. 860 963-6592.
