Caleb Paul Deary
CHEPACHET — Caleb Paul Deary passed in the arms of his parents Dec. 6, 2014.  
Caleb is the son of David and Nicole Deary of Chepachet. He leaves his older brother Colby Deary and his baby sister Elizabeth Deary; grandparents: Paul and Patricia (Battista) Deary and John and Betty (Perella) Conley; aunts and uncles including; Debbie and Jeff Farese, Jason and Monica Deary, Justin and Heather Deary, John Jr. and Jess Conley.
A Celebration of his life was held Dec. 14 at the Roger William Botanical Gardens in Providence. Donations:  Providence Ronald McDonald . Gilman and Valade Funeral Homes.
 
Joseph A.J. Lefebvre
PUTNAM — Joseph A.J. Lefebvre, 76, died Dec. 2, 2014, in Day Kimball Hospital.  He was born on April 7, 1938, in West Warwick, R.I., to Louis and Rose (Lamoureux) Lefebvre.  
Joe was employed for many years at the former City Beverage of Putnam as a truck driver, and later the warehouse manager.  
Before retiring, he was employed at Steak-Um in Killingly as a forklift operator.  
In addition, he owned and operated Wellington Curtain with his wife for many years.  Joe enjoyed traveling and staying active by going to the gym, bicycle riding and walking.  He always loved to have a project going and took great pride in the perfect upkeep of his yard and home. 
He leaves his daughter, Ann-Marie Gothreau of Woodstock, and his son, Bryant M. Lefebvre (Amy) of Lakeville, Mass.; his granddaughters, Paisley Gothreau, and Shai-Lin Gothreau; his best friend and companion, Judy Baer; his brothers, Robert Lefebvre, Gerard Lefebvre (Claudette), Paul Lefebvre (JoAnne), and George Lefebvre (Diane); his sisters in-law, Anne Deotte, and Delores Raggazino. 
 He was predeceased by his wife, Janice (Deotte) Lefebvre; his brother in-law, Armand Deotte; and a sister in-law, Joyce Lefebvre.
Visitation is from noon to 1 p.m. Dec. 20 with a funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam. Donations: The American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067; or Day Kimball Hospital/Oncology Dept., P.O. Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260. 
 
Penny L. McMerriman

BROOKLYN — Penny Lynn McMerriman, 43, was escorted to Heaven by her Guardian Angel, St. Michael Dec. 6, 2014, after dying unexpectedly at home. She was the wife of E. Michael McMerriman of Brooklyn. They were married on June 23, 2001, on top of Mount Greylock in N. Adams, Mass. 
She was born Nov. 24, 1971, in Putnam, daughter of Barbara (Kuchy) Coutu of Holiday, Fla., and the late Francis “Rocky” Allen Jr.   
She was a 1989 graduate of Killingly High School, and received an associate’s degree from Quinebaug Valley Community College in 2011. She was a veteran of Desert Storm, proudly serving with the US Marine Corps in 1990. Penny was a caring fun-loving person with a great sense of humor who loved the simple things in life. She enjoyed and appreciated all that nature had to give, especially fond of spectacular sunsets, majestic mountains and flowing waterfalls. Penny enjoyed spontaneous adventures and always had a warm welcoming smile for everyone. She also loved cooking and baking for her family and decorating her home. She kept a special Christmas tree year round and would decorate it according to the season. She also loved taking many photographs to save ‘the memories” as well as arts and crafts. Christmas time was special to Penny and she loved to decorate the house and sing along with “The Carpenter’s” Christmas Album.
She leaves her husband Mike; three children Kay of Holiday, Matthew and Michael of Brooklyn; her mother Barbara and brother Scott Allen and his girlfriend Shelley of Woodstock and his children Jared and Cassie; in-laws Eugene and Maureen McMerriman; her dogs Sam and Betty. 
A Mass of Christian Burial was Dec. 11 at St. Mary Church of the Visitation, Putnam, with burial with military honors in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. Maurice Raymond Jr.
N. GROSVENORDALE — Maurice O. Raymond Jr., 56, of N. Grosvenordale, died unexpectedly Dec. 13, 2014, at the UMass Medical Center in Worcester. 
He was the husband of Agnes G. (Lucia) Raymond.  He was born May 6, 1958, in Putnam, son of Frances (Barrows) Bourbeau and the late Maurice Raymond, Sr.  He had worked on several farms in the area.  Maurice loved working on Harley Davidsons and had a great talent at painting and drawing. 
He leaves his wife Agnes; children, Mike, Robert, Thomas, Alice, George, Ray, Jerry, Jeffrey and Tim; his siblings Danny, Jane and Debby; 24 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. 
Memorial Service will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 20 at Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam. 
 
John Waterman Jr.,
Navy vet
PUTNAM — John Parker Waterman Jr., 79, of Mill St., died Dec. 12, 2014, in Matulaitis Nursing Home.  He was the husband of the late Frances (Ducharme) Waterman.  Born in 1935 in Boston, he was the son of the late John P. Waterman Sr. and Minnie (Thomson) Waterman. 
Mr. Waterman served in the Navy as a Marine Mechanics Special Instructor and Chief Petty Officer serving aboard the USS John Marshall and the USS Nathaniel Greene. He was awarded the National Defense Service Ribbon, European Occupation Good Conduct Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and United Nations Service Navy Achievement Medal. John was honorably discharged in 1977 after 23 years of service. Prior to his retirement Mr. Waterman worked for both Essex Corporation and Kaman Aerospace.
John was a member of the Putnam VFW, as well as various local fire departments serving as an EMT. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus for the local children as well as reading, and spending time with his service “buddies”.
He leaves his sons, David Waterman (Marccia) of Canterbury, Jeffrey Waterman of N. Grosvenordale, Kevin Waterman and his long time companion Vickie Moran of Central Village, and Steven Waterman (Lori) of Woodstock; his daughters, Linda Langevin of Canterbury and Mary Gauthier (David) of Somerset, Mass.; his former wife Marian Waterman of Dayville; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. 
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 19 in St. Joseph Church, N. Grosvenordale, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Donations: Putnam VFW’s Men’s Auxiliary, 207 Providence St., Putnam, CT 06260   Gilman and Valade Funeral Homes.
 
John Adamuska,
WWII vet
THOMPSON — John A. Adamuska, 98, died Dec. 8 2014, at Harrington, Hospital, Southbridge.
He was born in Mapleville, RI son of the late Andrew and Sophie
(Vajcovec) Adamuska and lived in Thompson most of his life. 
He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran serving in European and African Middle Eastern Theater.  He received the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in the European Theater. He also was a POW for two years in Italy.
He was a plant engineer at Putnam Hertzel in Putnam.  He was a member of the American Legion in Webster.  He loved gardening and had a great talent for repairing and maintaining things around the house.
He leaves his wife Jeanne F. (Courtemarche) Adamuska; a son, John A. Adamuska Jr. of Thompson; two daughters Betty (Leo) Dragon of Charlton and Debra (Steve) Anderberg of California;  a brother , William Adamuska of Dudley.  He was predeceased by a son,  Robert Adamuska Sr.; four brothers and two sisters.
The military funeral was Dec. 12 from the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, Webster, with a Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Dudley, and burial in St. Anthony Cemetery, Webster.  Donations:  St. Anthony of Padua Church.
