Fun Runs

THOMPSON --- The Wednesday Fun runs will be held at the West Thompson Dam through Sept. 16. The runs/walks start at 6:15. All welcome.

 

‘Touring’ Exhibit

WOODSTOCK --- Historic New England’s new exhibit “Touring New England, 1820 – 1970” opens today and runs through Oct. 15 at  Roseland Cottage, in the Carriage Barn. It explores why the region’s natural and built environments have been tourist destinations for centuries. The exhibit touches on the distinct characteristics of each New England state: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.  Free.

 

Art Show

THOMPSON --- The Thompson Public Library will present Art @ the Library, “Double Exposure,” photography by Karen Leaf and Norm Aubin through Aug. 30. Open House

DANIELSON --- The LiR (adult learners)  at QVCC will present a free historical program  along with refreshments and the preview of our FALL presentations at 1 p.m. at the college auditorium. The 1 hour presentation is entitled SS UNITED STATES- A ship built for peace but ready for war. It will  given by Jason Scappaticci. All welcome.

Music Series

WOODSTOCK --- The NAHACO Summer Sing Jam Music Series begins today and will be presented from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays through Aug. 25 at Eastford/Woodstock Nahaco Park, 305 Crystal Pond Rd. This free event features hay rides (starting at noon), PYO apples, face painting and balloon animals. Presentation

PUTNAM --- The Greater Putnam Interfaith Council in collaboration with the Daughters of the Holy Spirit in Putnam will be having a presentation and short film, "Dying to Live" and discussion about immigration reform and the increased use of corporate prisons in the U.S. at 7 p.m. at the Holy Spirit Provincial House Auditorium on Church Street.
