WOODSTOCK — Jemearil Wilson became the second player on the newly formed Woodstock Academy prep school basketball team to verbally commit to a Division I college.
The 6-foot, 7-inch forward from Chicago decided Oct. 3 that he was going to play basketball for Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Penn., next year.
“You can never make a mistake going to a Patriot League school and Lehigh University is among the top of the league. The education is phenomenal. The location is great. The coaching staff is terrific. It’s a grand slam for Jemearil,” Woodstock Academy prep coach Tony Bergeron said.
Bergeron said he anticipated that Wilson was going to pick a school, not only for basketball, but for academics. His final three choices were Lehigh, Bucknell and Dartmouth.
“He couldn’t have made a mistake with the decision, but he really felt that Lehigh had an unbelievable want and desire for him to go to the school. He felt at home there,” Bergeron said.
Chaylyn Martin, from Hartford, had verbally committed to Sacred Heart University before he came to Woodstock Academy.
