DANIELSON — Putting resources at your fingertips – that’s the goal of The Last Green Valley’s (TLGV) new Smart Phone App.  Developed over the past year, the new technology is free and compatible with I-Phones or versions of Android devices.  The phone application allows information from TLGV to upload to a cell phone quickly and display in a useful format.
The TLGV Phone App is for visitors and residents exploring the 35-town National Heritage Corridor.  Using Google maps and the mobil device GPS features, one can find restaurants, water and hiking trails, shops, farms, B&Bs, museums, services, farmers markets, arts, entertainment, events and more.  The user can search for places or events based on location or dates.
The events can be found through a category list or a calendar function.  Personalized itineraries can be compiled using the convenient bookmark feature. The app enables automatic phone calls, access to websites, and detailed driving directions from a given GPS location. The TLGV Smart Phone App is believed to have the first calendar feature of its kind.  The App was nominated for both the Best App Award and the Best App for Locals Award in the 5th Annual Best App Ever competition.
“This is a big step forward for us,” said TLGV Executive Director, Charlene Cutler.  “It was a steep learning curve but we are proud of the product we have developed and it has received great reviews.”
The development of the TLGV Smart Phone App is consistent with strategies expressed in the nonprofit’s management plan.  The App increases the levels of understanding and support for the mission of the organization through optimized brand identification and use of social media.
Download the TLGV Smart Phone App from either Google Play Store or the Apple Store.
