'Dracula'

Celebration
POMFRET  --- The Glen Elsinore Mansion (formally the Ashram) will be  open from 5 to 8 p.m. for a celebration of Pomfret's Past and Future. It's also a Democratic Town Committee "Meet the Candidates" evening. $20 suggested donation

'Haunted House'
POMFRET --- The Putnam Leo Club will present a haunted house fund-raiser from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 18, 19, 25 and 26 at Breeze Hill Farm and Milkin' Parlours on Rt. 44. All welcome. Admission and parking free although guests encourage to bring a nonperishable food item for the Daily Bread food pantry.

Harvest Fair/Lunch
PUTNAM --- The Congregational Church of Putnam, downtown, will hold a Harvest Fair and Luncheon from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. as part of the Putnam Pumpkin fall festival. Lunch is 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Benefits community charities. 928-4405.

Tag Sale
THOMPSON --- The Thompson Congregational Church will hold a Treasure Chest Tag Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you have any saleable items to donate, please bring them to the church between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday the week before the sale.

Concert

Genealogy
TOLLAND --- Patrice Demers Kaneda of Lebanon, author of A Tale of Two Migrations: A French- Canadian Odyssey, will be the guest speaker at the annual membership meeting of the French-Canadian Genealogical Society of Connecticut at 1 p.m. in Fellowship Hall, United Congregational Church. Open House
POMFRET --- The Pomfret Fire Department and Pomfret Ambulance will offer a free lunch at an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the station on Hampton Road, next to the Little League Field.  Pomfret’s volunteer emergency services personnel will be there to show off the fire/rescue equipment and describe how the service operates.  Giveaways of smoke detectors, House Numbering kits, fire prevention materials, and games and activities for the kids, plus tours. Pomfret Fire and Pomfret Ambulance always need more people to be involved and we can use your skills, even if for a few hours a month.

Sports Auction
PUTNAM --- The Putnam Business Association will host a fund-raiser, "Promoting Putnam" Sports memorabilia and Art Auction from 5 to 9 p.m. at J.D. Cooper's Restaurant. Live auction is at 7. Admission is $10.
