Fun Run

W. THOMPSON --- The West Thompson Dam Fun Run has started and will run through Sept. 17 on Wednesdays starting at the West Thompson Dam entrance on Ravenelle Road. Jamboree

E. WOODSTOCK --- The 58th annual Jamboree will be held July 4 at the East Woodstock Common from 11 a.m  to 5 p.m.  Attic Treasures, Books, & Silent Auction will open at 9. Registration for Pinewood Derby from 10 a.m .to noon for Horseshoe Tournament at 11. Live entertainment and food.  Bring your lawn chair. www.ewcchurch.org.

 

History Walk

POMFRET --- Mashamoquet Brook State Park will present an interpretive guide and history walk "Hike to Revolutionary War Hero's Grave," from 1 to 2 p.m. July 4 and July 5. Meet at Wolf Den Campground Parking Lot. Preregistration requested. 860-928-6121..

Art Exhibit

POMFRET --- The Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Pomfret will present "Air and Water, Space and Time," a drawings exhibit by George Jacobi, through Aug. 15 at the Grassland Bird Conservation Center on Day Road. Opening Reception is from 2 to 4 p.m. July 13. Portion of the sales benefits the center. 928-4948.

Fireworks

PUTNAM --- The town's annual Fourth of July Fireworks Display will be held at 9:15 p.m. at Rotary Park. Rain date is July 12. The Little Big Band will play at 4:30 p.m. and The Wade Elliot Band will play at 7:15.  Refreshments available. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.

Pomfret Seniors

POMFRET --- The Pomfret Senior Center on Rt. 44 will present TEEG Learn and Lunch from noon to 2 p.m. July 8 with a presentation on “Tablets, Smartphones and iPhones”.  At 12:30 p.m. July 9 the movie “Twelve Years a Slave” will be shown. Surrounding town seniors welcome.

Concert, Frog Jump

EASTFORD --- The Congregational Church of Eastford on Church Road will present its annual summer band concert with the East Woodstock cornet Band at 6 p.m. Registration for the frog jumping is at 5:30 and events begin at 6. If you don’t have a frog, loaners will be available. Everything is free. All welcome.

POMFRET --- The Town of Pomfret's bulky waste, scrap metal, paper recycling and tires recycling will be held at 9 a.m. at the Pomfret Murdock Property on Rt. 101. Pomfret residents only.
