PUTNAM — The Putnam Police Department recently hired a new officer, Officer Richard D. Stringer.
According to Putnam Police Chief Chris Ferace, Stringer comes to the Putnam Police Department as a lateral hire who previously served six years with the New London Police Department.
Stringer brings experience, training, and knowledge with him and will be an excellent addition to the Putnam Police Department, Ferace said
At the New London Police Department, he served as a field training officer.
He is a certified Crisis Intervention Officer (CIT) with specialized training to help people in mental health crisis.
He is also a certified motorcycle officer and a POSTC certified firearms instructor.
Ferace said Stringer is held in high regard and by his colleagues and supervisors at the New London Police Department.
While serving in New London he was the recipient of numerous “Letters of Commendation” and received the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Enforcement Award twice.
He is a 2008 graduate of Griswold High School and a graduate Baran Institute of Technology.
He lives in Griswold with his wife, and they have one child.
