Winter boot drive is Dec. 4
WOODSTOCK — Warm, winter boots are a basic need of children here in New England, something every child deserves. For the second straight year, the Woodstock Democratic Town Committee will partner with TEEG to help fill this special need.
The WDTC will hold its Holiday Winter Boot Drive to benefit children from Woodstock and neighboring towns from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Woodstock Volunteer Fire Station #76, on Rt. 169.
Please bring new, unwrapped winter boots in children’s sizes for either gender and in original packaging. TEEG will distribute the donated boots to deserving families in Woodstock and neighboring communities it serves.
Donors who prefer to contribute cash can bring donations to the boot drive or mail checks, payable to TEEG, to WDTC, attn: Holiday Winter Boot Drive, P.O. Box 813, Woodstock, CT  06281.  Cash donations will be used to purchase additional boots for local children.
In 2020, TEEG served 160 households (representing 387 individuals) in Woodstock.  “Families that struggle to afford food and rent often do not have a budget for children’s footwear,” said Anne Miller, TEEG executive director.  “WDTC’s Holiday Winter Boot Drive makes sure that every child who needs warm, winter boots gets them!” Miller said.
Last year, the inaugural Holiday Winter Boot Drive collected 82 pairs of boots and raised an additional $768 in donations.  Event coordinator Greg Kline urges donors to “Please help us reach our goal of donating at least 100 pairs of boots this year!”
