PUTNAM — A Putnam man was cited in a car vs. pole accident. And then further investigation, Nick Gay, 25, was taken into custody for violating a protective order, according to Putnam Police Captain Justin Lussier.
A car vs pole accident on Sabin Street was called in around 6 p.m. Jan. 3.
Police said a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette driven  by Gay was traveling northbound on Sabin Street, when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the southbound lane and struck several mailboxes and a utility pole.
A juvenile female in the vehicle was taken to Day Kimball Hospital by Putnam EMS for minor injuries.
Gay was cited for traveling too fast for conditions, and failure to maintain proper lane.
It was learned that there was an active order of protection issued in the State of Massachusetts that prohibited contact between Gay and the juvenile passenger, so Gay was taken into custody for criminal violation of a protective order.
