2 arrested in copper theft
PUTNAM — Two local men were charged March 14 with stealing copper gutters that were being removed from the Crossings Restaurant.
Chevy J. Racine, 32, of 125 Groveland St., and Jeffrey D. Mylen, 37, of 171 South Main St., were each charged with fourth-degree larceny.
Putnam Police Department Chief Christopher Ferace said the on-site contractor had removed the existing gutters from the building for repair and replacement and placed them alongside the building.
While the first responding officer was still at the Crossings Restaurant investigating the initial complaint, other officers who were canvassing the area, apprehended the alleged perpetrators, and recovered the stolen copper gutters.
Both are due in Danielson Superior Court on March 30.
