PUTNAM — Timothy L. Bly, 64, husband of the late Joan Bly, died Jan. 7, 2024.
Timothy was born in 1959 in Woburn, Mass., the son of the late Gerald D. Bly Sr. and Patricia L. (Leahey) Bly and grew up in Billerica, Mass. before moving to Connecticut.
Timothy dedicated 27 years of service to the Putnam Police Department as a patrol officer, Detective, and retired at the rank of Sergeant in 2010. Timothy was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 64.
 Timothy loved traveling, sports, motorcycle rides, and spending time with his late wife, children, and grandchildren. He valued all the friendships that he made and enjoyed spending time with the ones he loved.
He leaves his children, Matthew Bly (Amelia) of Rotterdam, N.Y., Alexander Bly of Asheville, N.C., Andrew Scanlon (Jeanne) of Putnam, Dennis Scanlon of Grosvenordale, and Katherine Handy (Dylan) of West Burke, Vt.; his grandchildren, Natalia, Walter, Henry, and Parker.
He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Gerald, Richard, and Patty Ann.
The Mass of Christian Burial was Jan. 13 St. Mary Church of the Visitation.
