uick and simple was an attractive option. The 5 ingredients can be easily found in most grocery stores. Naan is usually located next to the pita bread at the deli counter. I like the whole grain version, but it is available plain as well.
Naan 'Pizza'
For each pizza:
4 ounces fresh mozzarella
6 sun-dried tomatoes in oil
1 naan flatbread ~ 1 tablespoon pesto
red pepper flakes, optional
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Oven rack should be in center position.
Slice mozzarella. (If desired, freeze for 20 minutes to make slicing easier) Set aside.
Slice sun-dried tomatoes into ½-inch slivers. Set aside.
Place naan on cookie sheet, bubbly side up. Bake in preheated oven for 3 minutes.
Remove naan from oven. Spread surface with pesto. Cover with mozzarella slices. Return naan to oven for another 4 minutes.
Remove naan from oven. Arrange sun-dried tomatoes on top of mozzarella. Return naan to oven for another 3 minutes.
Remove naan from oven, and allow to cool for 2-3 minutes.
Cut into quarters, sprinkle very lightly with red pepper flakes if using.
Serve.

Big Dance
By Ron P. Coderre
The Tourtellotte ladies’ basketball program continued to enjoy success on the hardwood as tournament time approaches by posting a pair of impressive victories last week. Coach Carla Faucher’s Lady Tigers are 14-5 overall and 6-3 in the ECC Small Division.
Putnam’s Lady Clippers, who are working hard for coach Mandi Hogan, picked up a win in their only game but it was a big victory. The win over Norwich Tech made Putnam eligible for the State Tournament with an 8-9 record.
Plainfield continued its winning ways and Killingly enjoyed success, winning its second game of the season. Woodstock and Ellis Tech were winless.
The preps had a slow week due to the inclement weather. However, Marianapolis I tasted victory while Hyde-Woodstock, Pomfret School and Marianapolis II fell in their only contests.
Lady Tigers Pass 2 Impressive Tests
Tourtellotte passed two of its toughest tests of the season, beating Windham 52-48 on the road and edging Lyman at home 62-60 in a game that took two overtime periods to decide the outcome.
Trailing 20-14 at halftime the Lady Tigers used a big third period in which they scored 20 points to push them to victory over the Windham Whippets. High-scoring Ali Ablondi ,with 24 points, was the big gun for Tourtellotte pouring in 24 points including four from three-point land.
Ablondi continued her hot shooting against Lyman as she tickled the twine for 26 points with six from beyond the arc in the double overtime win. She received offensive support from sophomore Abby Poirier who had 18 big points. The contest was knotted 51-51 after regulation. Both team scored seven points in the first overtime before the Lady Tigers put the game in the W column, outscoring the Whippets 4-2 in the second OT period.
Putnam enjoyed a big offense evening in qualifying for the State Tournament with a 42- 11 win over Norwich Tech. Makenzie Kaylor, with 15 points, paced the winners who are 6-3 in the CSC East good for second place.
The Killingly Redgals, who have struggled all season, picked up a surprising 43-34 win over Griswold. Morgan Harriot, with 13 points, and Teagan Waggoner, with 10, were Killingly’s top point producers. Earlier in the week Plainfield ran away from Killingly, posting a 46-26 win, as seven Panthers hit the scorebook despite not having a single player in double figures. Julie Jordan with nine points was high scorer for Plainfield, while Meagan Bianchi with 13 points garnered game high honors for the 2-16 Redgals. Plainfield is 10-8 on the season and 3-6 in the ECC Medium Division.
Woodstock dropped to 2-17 on the year, losing a heart breaker to Bacon Academy 24-22, while 0-17 Ellis Tech was pummeled by University Prep 57-18.

Marianapolis I Lady Knights raised their record to 14-5 with a 56-35 win over Miss Halls School. Caroline Soucy, with 17 points, and sophomore Madison Springfield, with 15, were the top point producers for coach Lauren Moore. The Marianapolis II unit was beaten by Ethel Walker School 50-22, falling to 5-9 on the season.
Pomfret School lost a pair of contests as they were dropped by Cheshire Academy 40-37 and Tilton School 57-46, to go to 13-5 on the year. Hyde-Woodstock was a loser to Lincoln School 44-24. The Lady Wolfpack is struggling through a 4-10 season.

Filling 88
Main with
hospitality
By Linda Lemmon
Town Crier Editor
PUTNAM --- With the facade 99 percent finished, 88 Main now adorns the town's center. And now the owner is turning his attention to filling the gem with high-end hospitality.
Bruce Dexter II said he's been working diligently trying to find the right tenant for inside the now-spectacular building. The facade is finished and the supports inside are done. Dexter said he's been "inundated" with interest for tenants. He said he favors leasing the building to a high-end corporation that would fill the building with hospitality such as hotel rooms, restaurants and more.
"We're talking very high end," Dexter said. He's currently in discussions with hospitality corporations. He said the tenant may wish to build out the shell themselves; however, he does have a team assembled to do a customized buildout including B.W. Dexter Inc., Rose Construction (which did the facade project) and Kevin Tubridy, New England Design, Inc., who designed 88 Main facade.
Dexter added that if the negotiations go well, the "fit out" could be accomplished in eight months to a year. It would not take much time, he said, because there is no site work, no skin on the building to deal with. "It's all there" to customize, he said.
Dexter said that the facade is 99 percent done. The electrical panels recently were installed and all that remains is the installation of the real front doors, in place of the plain white "stand-in" doors.
Dexter Properties LLC purchased the building in October 2009. Dexter had said at that time he wants to put in a restaurant, retail space and, on the top two floors, a boutique hotel.
A state Urban Action grant of $400,000 was used for civil and structural engineering for the project and for demolition, shoring, and facade work.
