TJ Espinosa Headed for Nationals
Putnam Middle School seventh grader TJ Espinosa will be in Chicago from April 20-23 for the Elks Hoops Shoot national finals, where he will face off with 11 other regional winners from around the country to see who can make the most out of 25 free throw attempts. It will be the first time in the final for Espinosa, who got a huge sendoff last weekend from Putnam Elks Lodge 574, which he represents (above).  Competing in the 12-13-year-old division, Espinosa will shoot 10 shots; take a break while each of the others takes their 10 shots, then step back to the line for 15 more.  Any ties after the first round will result in overtime rounds of five shots.  Espinosa made 23-of-25 foul shots at the New England Regionals in March to advance to this weekend. He won the local championship in January, which put him in the state championship round in February.
