Midtown Fitness is promoting a health initiative called “The Northeast Connecticut Biggest Loser contest that awards the man and woman who loses the biggest percentage of body weight in an eight week period .  Cash prizes and gift certificates have been donated by Steve and Marjolaine Townsend, Gerardi Insurance, Steve Bousquet’s Appliance and TV, Putnam Ford, Wonderland Comics and 85 Main.  Almost 100 residents have entered the contest which ends on March 8. The following charges were listed in the Putnam Police Department logs.  The people charged are innocent until proven guilty in court. The Town Crier will publish dispositions of cases at the request of the accused. The dispositions must be accompanied by the proper documentation. Feb. 19
Robert O’ Connor, 21, Railroad Street, Putnam; sixth-degree larceny.
Feb. 21
April Samokar, 36, Golden Street, Plainfield; failure to respond, operating unregistered motor  vehicle, operating under suspension, operating without insurance.
Feb. 22
Deirdre Brennan, 49, Mechanic Street, Putnam; second-degree breach of peace, disorderly conduct.
Ronald Luscavage, 43, Gristmill Road, E. Haddam; tampering with a witness, interfering with police, violation of a restraining order.
Feb. 24
Ryan Robbins, 33, Richmond Road, Putnam; two counts of first-degree failure to appear, three counts of second-degree failure to appear.

Putnam High
Monday: Melted ham and cheese croissants, three-bean salad. Tuesday: Chicken Teriyaki stir fry, zucchini over Oriental vegetable fried rice, vegetable spring roll. Wednesday: Macaroni and cheese, broccoli. Thursday: Classic Cobb salad. Friday: Lasagna.
Pomfret Community
Monday: Meatball grinders, carrot sticks, diced pears. Tuesday: Chicken patties on rolls, fruit. Wednesday: Spaghetti, meatsauce, fruit tray. Thursday: Mr. Fox's pizza, fruit tray. Friday: Roast turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, applesauce cups.
