PSA Elite basketball stays unbeaten with win
HOOSAC, N.Y. — The Putnam Science Academy Elite Boys basketball team continued its hot start to the season, earning a 97-84 victory over Hoosac School Nov. 16.
The win marks the third straight for the Mustangs, who are now 3-0.
Lazarus Mason led the charge with 17 points, adding 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals in an all-around performance. Octavius Wheeler matched Mason with 17 points of his own, while also dishing out a team-high 7 assists. David Djan contributed 14 points and 2 blocks, and Steven Brown added 10 points to help secure the win.
The Mustangs’ offense proved too much for Hoosac to handle, as PSA maintained its perfect record.
In the Nov. 9 season opener the PSA Elite team claimed an 89-72 win over Thetford. Javelle Epps led with 16 points on 5-10 shooting, Amyas C scored 14, Laz Mason and Steve Brown each had 11 (with Brown adding 8 rebounds), and Octavious Wheeler provided a complete stat line of 9 points, 9 assists, and 5 rebounds. Chris Young and Steve Brown led the team in plus-minus at +16.
Nov. 10, in a rematch with Thetford PSA Elite clinched a 73-70 victory over Thetford, moving to 2-0 on the season. Laz Mason led with 20 points and multiple steals; Octavious Wheeler scored 13, while Steve Brown rounded out the top scorers with 10 points.
Prep Team
Nov. 8 Putnam Science Academy rolled to a 91-53 win over OSL Prep. Ben Ahmed and Jaymen Townsend each recording 11 points; Ahmed added 10 rebounds, while Townsend contributed 3 boards. Nov. 9 the Mustangs took down Bridgeport Prep 117-85. Nov. 10 PSA defeated Redemption Christian Academy 83-68. That kept PSA undefeated with a 7-0 record.
