season
PUTNAM --- Putnam girls' basketball team accomplished many goals this season, the first being the 2010 ECC Small Division Champion, said coach Willie Bousquet.
The team qualified for both the ECC TNY and State Class “S” TNY with a 14-6 overall record.
Unfortunately, the team lost to Griswold in the first round of the ECC TNY.
The team bounced back and won a thrilling first-round state Class S victory 41-39 versus Derby High School from the Naugatuck Valley League.
In the second round, the team gave a terrific effort and just missed beating Coginchaug High School 42-45.
The season ended with an impressive 15-8 record.
League ECC All-stars included Katelyn Tarr (first team), Kate Montgomery and Regan Guillot (second team).
The ECC sportsmanship award went to Brittany Bousquet.
The seniors will play in the upcoming Putnam Rotary Club Ray Brousseau Shootout game at 6 p.m. March 23 at Putnam High's gym.
Katelyn Tarr was recently selected to play in the State Coaches Senior Game at North Branford High School at 6 p.m. March 22.
The end of the season might still bring some honors that will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
