PUTNAM --- Day Kimball Healthcare recognized its 250 volunteers who donated over 32,000 hours this past year with a recent recognition luncheon.
“Our volunteers are truly an amazing group,” said Janet Johnson, volunteer services coordinator. “They give so much to this organization through their compassion, dedication, generosity and heartfelt service. These 250 people touch my life and the lives of others each and every day.”
During the program, 93 volunteers were awarded pins for significant amounts of hours given, ranging from 100 hours to 12,500 hours. Volunteers also received a favorite recipe of their co-volunteers to honor this year’s theme, “Volunteers Have all the Right Ingredients.”
Over the years, Day Kimball Healthcare volunteers have given impressive amounts of hours. Currently there are 58 volunteers who have been donating their time between 5 and 10 years, 30 volunteers between 10 and 15 years, 14 volunteers between 15 and 20 years, 4 volunteers between 20 and 25 years, 2 volunteers between 25 and 30 years and 2 volunteers between 35 and 40 years.
Day Kimball Healthcare volunteers serve many departments throughout the organization each day. The largest number of volunteers is in the escort role. In escort, volunteers transport patients, sort mail, deliver cards and flowers, transport lab specimens and more. Other departments such as Hospice & Palliative Care, Homecare, the Ambulatory Care Unit and the Emergency Department also require volunteers. Adults who would like to become volunteers must complete an application and go through the interview, criminal background check and health screening processes.
