LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — The number 20 team in the country (#1 in region), Stony Brook School was too much for the Mustangs and they fell 8-3.  Max Sanchez hit a blooper into left field to give the Mustangs a 1-0 in the top of the 1st.  Kike Melo hit a round tripper in the top of the 3rd extending the Mustangs lead to 2-0. In the top of 5th Elliot Guerrero brought in Justin Dejesus on an RBI single to right field. Jayson Serrano lasted until the 5th inning after giving up back-to-back-to-back home runs. Serrano finished with 5 strikeouts. Jacob Mondo came in to relieve Serrano, striking out 2 while giving up a run.
LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — A year ago on April 29 Janiver Diaz could not get out of the 2nd inning against Stony Brook Prep. Fast forward to 2026 Diaz was phenomenal with a 12 strikeout, 2-hit performance against the 20th ranked team in the country, number one in the Mid Atlantic region. 62 percent of his pitches during his 7-inning complete game were strikes. Not only did he get it done on the mound. He galvanized the team to the 6-1 with a home run in the top of the 5th to send the team into a frenzy. Kike Melo scored on pass ball in the top of the 1st to get the scoring start for the Mustangs. Elliot Guerrero brought in 2 runs on an RBI double in the top of the 5th. The Mustang were extraordinarily fearless in its back bounce back win against Stony Brook. There were multiple professional scouts at the past few games, scouting the other team for that matter. Undeterred, the Mustangs wanted to go out and win-they did just that. The Mustangs are 13-8-1 on the season.
