Wins scholarship
DUDLEY — Emily Faist of Woodstock was recognized at the Nichols College spring award ceremony by receiving the Massachusetts Association of Public Accountants scholarship. This this scholarship is given to a student of high academic achievement who specializes in accounting and chosen by the Accounting Program Chair. Massachusetts Association of Accountants, or MAA is a professional accounting organization which administers peer reviews and continuing professional education (CPE) for CPA’s. This award is being presented to two seniors that are continuing at Nichols in the 3+1 program. Bailey is at the top of her class and plans to continue on with Nichols College to complete her master’s degree in order to qualify to sit for the CPA exam. She is a helper insider and out of the classroom and is considered a mentor to all students.

Credit union names new chair
CorePlus Federal Credit Union has appointed Susan Dowling of Noank to serve as chair of its board of directors. Susan succeeds Robert Trinque who has served as chair of the board since 2010. Jean Swift of Preston will serve as vice-chair.
Dowling has worked as a financial advisor in the community for more than 35 years and is a Certified Financial Planner through CFP® Board of Standards. She served as board chair for the Connecticut Community Credit Union from 1994 to 2018. She also serves on the Board of Trustees for Endicott College and is president of the Alumni Council. She holds a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of New Haven.
Jean Swift is a financial advisor to the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council and previously served as treasurer until December 2018. She is a CPA, a CorePlus board member and a member of the CorePlus Supervisory Committee. She also serves on the Board for the Eastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce and the IRS Advisory Council, Tax Exempt and Governmental Entities Subgroup. She earned a bachelor’s in business administration from UConn and an MBA from DeVry University.
