Puppetry Exhibit
STORRS --- The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry will present two exhibits, "Punch and Judy: Handpuppets, Politics and Humor," and "Frank and Elizabeth Haines: An American Puppet Theater in the 1930s," through Dec. 19 at the UConn campus.  www.bimp.uconn.edu.

Art Exhibit
POMFRET --- The Northeastern Connecticut Art Guild will have an exhibit of their artwork at Seely Brown Village  through June 7. All welcome.

Fun Run

PUTNAM --- The Aspinock Historical Society of Putnam will hold its annual Strawberry Shortcake Social from 6 to 8 p.m. at the society's office on School Street. A local group, The Circle, will entertain from 6 to 7 p.m. $5. Bring lawn chair. Rain date is June 4.

Nature Program
HAMPTON --- The Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Pomfret will present an Edwin Way Teale Birthday Potluck at 6 p.m. at Trail Wood on Kenyon Road. Free. 860-928-4948.

BioBlitz
ASHFORD --- The first ever BioBlitz will start at 3 p.m. and run for 24 hours at the Church Farm. Scientists will race to inventory all the species they can. For information or to preregister, go to joshuaslandtrust.org.

Car Cruise
PUTNAM --- The Tri-State Cruisers hold their car cruise from 4 to 8 p.m. every Saturday at the Super Stop & Shop parking lot on Rt. 44.

Open House
POMFRET --- The Windham-Tolland 4-H Camp on Taft Pond Road will hold an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. June 5 and 6. Tour Camp, meet staff, register.  No appointment necessary.  860-974-3379.

WOODSTOCK --- Roseland Cottage offers complimentary house museum tours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the hour.  This special open house celebrates Roseland Cottage’s 40th year as a museum and Historic New England’s centennial anniversary.
 
Fund-raiser Concert
POMFRET --- The Abington Social Library will present its annual Concert in the Park from 10 a.m. to dusk at the Pomfret Recreation Park, 576 Hampton Rd.  Seven bands, arts and crafts, foods and more. Bring your own blanket or chairs. Benefits the oldest continuously operating social library in the U.S.  $12 in advance; $15 at the gate; children 12 and under with an adult are free.  Tickets can be purchased on line at www.abingtonsociallibrary.org, at the library or Pomfret Town Hall, or by calling (860) 974-0415. 

Audition
PUTNAM --- Open auditions will be held shall be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 5 and from 1 to 3 p.m. June 6 at The Bradley Playhouse for the musical "Grease." Roles available: Pink Ladies/Cha-Cha/Patty/Female Ensemble (Aged teen to  adult);  Burger Palace Boys/Eugene/Male Ensemble (Aged teen to adult); Miss Lynch/Vince Fontaine/Johnny Casino/Teen Angel (Aged adult to mature adult); Gymnastic Tumblers – 2 male/2 female (Aged teen to adult).  Actor auditions will consist of a reading, choreography and vocal demonstration. Be prepared to sing a song of your choice or a song from "Grease." Gymnasts please be prepared to demonstrate competency. (860) 377-6030. Performance dates in August.

Bike Rodeo
THOMPSON --- Thompson Recreation, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 10088, the  Connecticut State Police Troop D are sponsoring a free Bicycle Rodeo for children ages 5-14 at 9 a.m. at Riverside Park. This  event will have a bicycle inspection, minor adjustments to the bicycles, bicycle registration, and  obstacle course, prizes and ribbons.  An adult must accompany children under 12.  Remember your  helmet.  Rain date: June 19.
