Honored
Daniel Devonshire Kellaway, a ninth-grade graduate of The Rectory School, received The Patrick Wood Memorial Prize, given by Patrick’s parents, Robert Wood and Lisette Rimer of Pomfret, to honor the ability and integrity of their son who died in 2006.  This scholarship, awarded to a local student matriculating to Pomfret School, is granted on a student’s merit.  Rimer, a teacher at Rectory, praised Daniel, who was also chosen by his peers to be the first student commencement speaker in the school’s history:  “Along with the four previous outstanding winners from area schools, he is the quintessential example of why we started this award. His fount of knowledge is already overflowing, and he is eager for so much more, but he’s also humble about it.  He sees himself as a student, pure and simple, not as ‘accomplished,’ and, of course, that made him all the more qualified.”  Daniel is the son of the Rev. James and Ginger Kellaway of Pomfret. Left to right:  Robert Wood and Lisette Rimer, Erik Bertelsen, Assistant Head for Admissions and Enrollment at Pomfret School, and Daniel Kellaway.
