Gracing the River
Steve's River Blossoms art installation will be a part of the Quinebaug River until perhaps the week before Thanksgiving, according to Parks and Recreation Director Willie Bousquet. In its second year, it honors the late Steve Bousquet, longtime member of the town's Recreation Commission. Willie said Steve was always asking about putting live mums in the firepots in the river and Willie was always telling him that wasn't possible. Last year Bousquet's Appliances sponsored the silk mums installation, in Steve's honor. Willie said, "Steve is winking at us from heaven." This year there are 10 pots filled with silk mums and the town may change the formations. Linda Lemmon photo.
