Local Grants
JEWETT CITY — The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation awarded $21,500 to 14 local healthcare and social services organizations during its 2025 grant cycle. Local organizations honored with grants: Day Kimball Hospital, was awarded a $1,000 grant towards its annual appeal; $2,500 to EASTCONN Regional Educational Service Center, Inc. in Hampton to support the personal care distribution program for families enrolled in their Head Start and Early Head Start programs and who receive SNAP benefits; and Thames Valley Council for Community Action (TVCCA) in Jewett City to fund the Senior Nutrition Program which includes Meals on Wheels. Also locally awarded: $2,000 to Access Agency, Inc. to help provide daily meals to emergency shelter residents in Danielson; $1,000 grants were awarded to: Griswold PRIDE to provide food and incentives for enhancing engagement and attendance at school and community events; Quiet Corner Peer Support Group to assist with opening the wellness center in Dayville to provide services to help reduce PTSD symptoms of first responders. Also: a grant to Flying Free Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc. in Woodstock to fund healthcare for horses that are a part of the therapeutic riding program.
Gold Awards
WATERFORD — Charter Oak Federal Credit Union awarded $867,000 in annual $100 cash bonuses in December to its Gold Rewards members, which is the largest annual amount since Charter Oak created the unique member-appreciation program in 2010.
