Little League celebrates its 75th anniversary
PUTNAM — Putnam Little League will celebrate its 75th anniversary on Opening Day, April 18. The celebration will begin with a parade at 9:30 a.m., followed by an Opening Day ceremony at 10 a.m., with baseball and softball games beginning at 10:30 and continuing throughout the afternoon.
Established in 1951, just four years after Little League Baseball began, Putnam Little League is the oldest Little League in northeastern Connecticut and has provided generations of local youth the opportunity to play both baseball and softball.
The community is invited to celebrate the start of the season and the continued love of the game. All past volunteers, coaches, players, contributors, and supporters are welcome to attend, walk in the parade, and join in the celebration. Attendees are encouraged to wear Putnam colors, old jerseys, or any Putnam Little League gear to help honor the league’s history.
