Morgis, Plouffe earn All-New
England honors
Three members of the Woodstock Academy senior class chose to head to the New England track and field championships at Noble High School in North Berwick, Maine, Saturday instead of attending graduation ceremonies.
Two of them came home with All-New England honors.
Lily Morgis finished second in New England in the discus with a best throw of 137-feet, 4-inches. The only athlete to finish ahead of her hailed from just down the road in Plainfield as junior Nevaeh Dailey finished as New England champion with a throw of 148-feet.
Avery Plouffe also went north and finished sixth in the shotput with a heave of 38-feet, 11 ¼ inches.
Both earned All-New England status.
“It’s a tough call between attending graduation and going to New England’s. Wrapping up your senior year as an All-New England performer, hopefully, left Lily and Avery feeling good about their decision,” said coach Josh Welch.
Classmate Eli Manning was also in the top 10 in New England as he placed ninth in the boys’ discus with a throw of 158-feet, 9-inches.
