The area witnessed an overtime thriller in the championship game between the Clippers and the Redmen.  The Redmen jumped out to a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, and then the Clippers made a strong defensive run and made some buckets to take the lead by halftime with a 17-16 score. Putnam carried the momentum through the third quarter holding a 33-29 lead.  
In the fourth quarter the Redmen got behind their sophomore scoring guard Luke Desaulnier who hit some tough shots down the stretch to put Killingly up with 1:24 in the game. Some late-game drama occurred when Putnam’s Sebastian Ramos hit a three from the corner to cut the lead to one with 36-six seconds in the game.  Moments later at the free throw line with just seconds in the game, Putnam Fred Tucker with the converted tip in off the missed second free throw forces overtime in the Classic Matchup.  
In overtime, Gavin Turner of Killingly won the game on a baseline drive reverse layup to put the Redmen ahead off a pass from Jared Gosper by score of 51-49.  
Luke Desaulnier totaled 23 points and grabbed six rebounds. Dommoy Ennis was a force inside scoring eight points, nine rebounds, and a couple big time blocks.  Turner scored nine points, and Gosper scored five points.  Sebastian Ramos was the Clippers’ leading scorer with 16 points. Seniors Zach Cutler with 11 points and six rebounds, Lucas Bastilio with 10 points and 3 rebounds, and Austin Harmon with six points and seven rebounds all played well for the Clippers (2-1). Junior Scott Davagian played very well defensively, creating a lot of loose balls and steals to help the Clippers stay in the game. 
 
Tourtellotte: 64
Ellis Tech: 38
Evan Ware controlled the game for the Tourtellotte Tigers in their victory over the Golden Eagles of Ellis Tech recording 13 points and grabbing six rebounds. Jackson Padula was his go-to guy in the paint putting up 13 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Benjamin Leveille pitches in with 10 points and snagged eight rebounds for the Tigers.  Connor Weiss adds eight points in the win. Brennan Young lead all scorers with 17 points hitting five three-pointers.  Darius Deveny helped the Golden Eagles by scoring 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds. 
 
Woodstock Academy 66
Ellington: 50
Chase Anderson scored a team-high 20 points for the Centaurs in their battle against Ellington.  Woodstock Academy’s Sam Majek was also contributing with 15 points to help lead the Centaurs (1-2) to their first victory of the new season.
 
Putnam: 64
Ellis Tech: 41 
Earlier the Putnam Clippers won their first round match up in the Clipper Classic against Harvard Ellis Technical School by a score of 64 to 41.  Sebastian Ramos led scorers with 25 points and dished out seven assists. Lucas Bastilio made his interior presence felt with his 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds and creating multiple trips to the free throw line.  
 
Killingly: 57
Tourtellotte: 30 
Earlier the Redmen opened up the classic with a 57-30 victory over the Tourtellotte Tigers. Gavin Turner led the way in scoring with 11 points, while Dommoy Ennis grabbed nine rebounds. Jared Gosper continues to lead the team contributing 10 points and running the floor general for the Redmen. Jackson Padula led the Tigers (1-2) with 10 points.

It was a defensive game between the Redmen and the Panthers on Friday, and was a game where interior height played a factor in Plainfield’s favor. Plainfield was led by Chris Peasley who had 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots.  Killingly Luke Desaulnier lead the way for the Redmen with 14 points, and Gavin Turner pitched in 10 points.  Senior Dommoy Ennis was a force on the boards with 13 rebounds of the teams total 19. The Plainfield Panthers move to a  (5-0) start.  
 
Putnam: 62
Wheeler: 59
Earlier Zach Cutler lead the charge for the Clippers (3-1) in their 62-59 victory over Wheeler with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Sebastian Ramos continued his scoring efforts with 18 points.  Putnam was without their big man Lucas Bastilio who was battling a stomach bug, so junior Connor Holloman stepped up with 10 points and grabbed 6 rebo.
