NORWICH — CorePlus Federal Credit Union has named a new official to its Governing Body.  William R. Poirier of Thompson has been named as a director, effective July 23.  As a not for profit cooperative financial institution, CorePlus Federal Credit Union annually elects officials who volunteer their time and talent to serve the Credit Union on behalf of its membership.  The Credit Union Board and Supervisory Committee members are generally nominated from the membership at large and voted on by the members at the Annual Meeting, held in May.  Mr. Poirier was appointed to fill the unexpired term of former Director Angela V. Arnold.
Poirier has been involved with the Credit Union since 1987, and in 2012 was named as the Chairman of the Supervisory Committee.  The Supervisory Committee is responsible for retaining Credit Union internal and external Audit and Accounting firms as well as reviewing and assuring compliance with all audit and examination recommendations and requirements.
